South Africa: The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Education, Sipho Hlomuka, extended his congratulations to the UDO World Street Dance Championship winners. The competition was hosted in the United Kingdom from August 14 to Auguust 18.
The five day event which sought to highlight the talent of the youngsters of the world was hosted at the Winter Gardens, 97 Church Street, Blackpool. The event attracted a variety of audiences for to witness and celebrate the dance talent in the nation.
Remarkable dancers from all over the world came to participate in the competition and showcased their talents to the world. The organizers have shared that this is one of the best dance centric event in the world. The youngsers from all different ages and levels are welcome from Beginner to Advanced.
The UDO World Street Dance Championship featured competitions in the following categories:
- Solos
- Duos
- Trioquads
- Battles
- Hiphop, Popping, All Styles, Litefeet & Breaking
- Age Categories: U12, U16 & O16 (Except for Breaking, this will be OPEN)
- Teams
- Supercrews
- Parent Teams
- Ultimate Advanced Teams
Levels: Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced
Ages: Under 6, Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, Under 18, Over 18

– U14 Intermediate Duo
2nd Place: Makhosazane Zuma and Craig Zondi from Sherwood Primary School
– U16 Intermediate Duo
1st Place: World Champions Phumelela Khwela from Durban Girls High and Nkanyezi Zwane from Westville Girls High School
– U16 Intermediate Duo
4th Place: Mika Ruiters from Durban Girls High School and Malwande Mathunyane from Westville Girls High School
– U16 Intermediate Solo
4th Place: Phumelela Khwela from Durban Girls High School
– U14 Intermediate Solo
1st Place: Makhosazane Zuma from Sherwood Primary School
5th Place: Smangaliso Zondi from Sherwood Primary School
The Member of the executive council appreciated the youngsters for their performance. He acknowledged that they had worked very hard for their success.
