Minister Rakgare hosts a delegation from YouthConnekt Hub

Botswana: Minister Rakgare hosted a delegation from Youth Connekt Hub. The platform was launched in Rwanda in 2012, and it has now become a Pan-African platform, operational in 30 African countries. It is coordinated by the Youth Connekt Africa Hub based in Kigali, Rwanda, and reported by the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sports and Culture Botswana.

Botswana: Minister Rakgare hosted a delegation from YouthConnekt Hub. The platform was launched in Rwanda in 2012, and it has now become a Pan-African platform, operational in 30 African countries. It is coordinated by the Youth Connekt Africa Hub based in Kigali, Rwanda, and reported by the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sports and Culture Botswana.

Reports of the Ministry also stated that the YouthConnekt summit is a continental youth gathering with the goal of connecting Youth with their peers, leaders, role models, skills and resources to promote employability skills, access finance and civic engagement and enhance entrepreneurship opportunities. Young people use the YouthConnekt platform to learn, connect and grow their network as they share experiences.

Since its launch in Botswana, YouthConnekt has assisted 51 youth entrepreneurs and start-ups through tailored entrepreneurship and leadership training and mentorship, focusing on economic growth and social impact, said the Ministry of Youth.

Furthermore, Ministry continued by saying 12500 youth have also benefited from the digital spaces and dialogues, social change initiatives and linkages to potential markets, financing services, investors, mentors, and partners.

The delegation expressed their appreciation for Botswana to expand the rollout of the YouthConnekt for more young people to benefit from the programme.

Minister Rakgare shared that it would be an honour if Botswana is given the opportunity to host the YouthConnekt summit.


 

 


The Minister and BNYC delegation will host the YouthConnekt Hub entourage to a Dinner and other initiatives to chair the hub mandate in collaboration with Botswana.

On the same day, the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture organized Golden Door Sports Agency which was hosted by Glody Dube, received an upgrade of status by World Athletics from its previous Bronze status to become a Continental Tour Gold status post its successful hosting of the meet on the 30th April 2022.
