Zambia: Police Force in Western Province are investigating two separate cases of suspected murder and aggravated robbery in Senanga District. The two criminal incidents allegedly took place during the first week of May 2025
Western Division Police Commanding Officer David Chileshe confirmed the incidents in a media statement. He shared the details of both the investigations with the media and promised to update them on any new developments
In the first case, police are investigating the suspected murder of 27 year old Alick Simakamba. The victim is a resident of Chaisa Compound in Lusaka and his body was discovered on May 4, 2025.
The body in question was inside a non-functional 210-litre deep freezer at a refrigeration workshop near the Kalez Salaula area in Senanga town. The matter was reported to police by Laurence Mutandalo, 50, who said Simakamba was his employee at a carpentry shop.
Simakamba was hired for a job in Senanga district and was last seen on May 2, 2025, when he knocked off from work.
Officer Chileshe said that after he failed to return home, a missing person report was filed on May 4, and his body was later found decomposing inside the fridge.
Police visited the scene and retrieved the body, which has since been deposited at Senanga District Hospital mortuary for postmortem and a murder docket has been opened while two suspects have been apprehended as investigations continue.
In a separate incident, Mubita Mebelo, 38, of Lui-Namabunga area in Senanga, was attacked and robbed by two machete-wielding criminals on April 27, 2025, around 22:00 hours.
Officer Chileshe said Mebelo, who was returning home with his wife and son after selling charcoal at Senanga Boma, was ambushed while traveling with his ox-cart.
Police explained that the attackers robbed him of items valued at K19,460, including three heads of cattle and a blue Itel mobile phone while he sustained a deep cut on his forehead, another on his right thumb, and general body injuries.
His wife and son escaped and alerted nearby villagers, who rushed to the scene and found him unconscious but alive. He was taken to Senanga District Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment
