Botswana: The Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs (MYGA) hosted a Women’s Pitso High tea event at Lion Park. The theme of the high tea for the day was “Swallow It with Tea.” The event was hosted as part of the build up to the International Women’s Day (IWD) .
The national celebration for the International Women’s Day will be hosted for March 6, 2025, in Ramotswe Kgotlakgolo. Ahead of the main event, the Ministry of Youth Affairs has hosted the women in the country to the high tea.
The high tea event served as a platform women to engage in discussions that they deem appropriate and important for their lives. The attendants spoke on the topics of gender equality, empowerment, and breaking the stereotypes that have been set by the society.
The celebration of the International Women’s Day is commemorated all over the world on March 8. The event will give the administration the opportunity to acknowledge the women in Botswana.
They can honor the women for their hardwork, dedication and contributions to nation building. The officials have shared some images from the high tea on their social media.
The officials said that it is important for the community to stand strong with the women.
Through this event, the organization highlighted the importance of recognizing women’s contributions. They have been creating supportive networks, and taking many steps toward gender equality.
The Pitso High Tea was also attended by a number of women who have been working in traditionally male dominated industries. These women, who came from industries like construction were proof that barriers in male dominated fields can be broken.
The discussion has proven one more time that that women are the roots of families and communities. The administration of Botswana has claimed that women should be given equal opportunities to develop.
The Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs acknowledged that Botswana has made significant progress in women inclusion. However, the discussion also made it clear that change is still the need of the hour. Women should be given the opportunity to fully realize their potential in all areas of life.
The panelists who attended the high tea event included Ntombi Setshwaelo, founder of Emang Basadi, and Mboko Basiami of Glotto, among others.
