Another world record of this year has been set by Nigerian man for twerking, weird right! But yeah, even such strange records also hold their name in the Guinness Book.

Reportedly, Nigerian Man – Babajide Israel Adebanjo has broken the Guinness World Record for the Longest Twerking Time, i.e. for 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Adebanjo achieved the record for the longest duration in Lagos, Nigeria, on January 14, 2024. He attempted the Twerking record personally, as to him, it was a way for him to get out of his comfort zone and to raise the awareness for anyone who is suffering from depression all around the world.

The actual message from him was that no record is too crazy, too big, too great or too little to achieve. There is always space for everyone, and for those who want to be recognised for their unique attributes. After making the record, he received a word from Guinness World Records that his January dancing marathon had officially earned him the title.

Considering this great achievement Adebanjo took to social media to share his happiness and wrote on his Tik-Tok account, “We are beyond thrilled to announce that our record-breaking achievement has been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records.”

The world record holder posted a video of showing the acceptance email from the record-keeping organization. Through his post he presented the gratitude to everyone who supported Adebanjo, upon taking on the challenge.

He further added to his gratitude post, “We are incredibly proud to have set a new standard in twerking and we could not have done it without your energy, enthusiasm and support.”

Adebanjo’s achievement is more than just a new record, well it is a celebration of determination and a call to action for raising mental health awareness.

Where the record maker is considering it as a way out of depression, other Nigerian people are being harsh and criticising him for even considering ‘twerking’ as a record.

Following this on twitter, a social media user Matana commented, “Congratulations to our Nigerian Brothers for being the biggest twerkers on earth.”

Another person Daniel Regha expressed, “Proud Nigerian here, but I don’t see why ‘Longest Twerking Time’ should even be a record to begin with. GWR shouldn’t have allowed this in the first place, it has no importance or benefit to society.”
