Ottawa – KZN: Businessman evades death in open fire attack

Several armed suspects opened fire on a businessman and two others who were occupying the car in an attempt to hijack the vehicle.

South Africa: Several armed suspects opened fire on a businessman and two others who were occupying the car in an attempt to hijack the vehicle.  The incident happened in Ottawa – KZN in the morning hours of Monday, with no casualities reported in the incident.

The total number of attackers has not been made public as of yet. Meanwhile, the businessman has sustained some injuries in the attack. The concerned members of the community reached out to Reaction Unit reporting the shooting incident

According to the reports, the calls started arriving at approximately 10:38. The members of the community informed the officers Reaction Unit South Africa about the shooting and possible hijacking, A team of first responders was dispatched to the specified in the phone calls.

However, while the response team was  enroute, they received the update that the driver had driven to safety. The reaction officers then tracked the location of the driver and reached out to investigate.

The driver was headed to a safe location in Mt View. Accordingly a team from the Reaction Unit and Verulam SAPS interviewed the victim.

The victim informed the officers that gunmen in a white car opened fire while he was leaving his premises in Ottawa – KZN. The businessman further noted that the attackers damaged his car front right tyre, glass, mirror & left panels.

The businessman also sustained some injuries in the attack and is currently being treated in the medical facilities. Further investigations suggest that the other two occupants of the car escaped unscathed.

The officials have shared that they are looking for the armed individuals who had attempted to hijack the vehicle. Meanwhile, the members of the community have extended their best wishes to the businessman for his speedy recovery.

The incidents of car hijackings and shooting have seen a sharp rise in the various communities across KZN. The incidents fuel the rising feelings of insecurity within the people of the country.

The people believe that they and their families are not safe in the community. They have also openly expressed their dissatisfaction over the actions of the authorities to curb the situation.
