South Africa: On 31 January 2023, the SA Army Support Formation members, as well as the SA Army Support Officers Commanding the units under command, gathered at National Ceremonial Guard to bid farewell to the Outgoing General Officer Commanding the SA Army Support Major General M.J. Tyhalisi.
Major General M. J. Tyhalisi is now newly appointed as Chief Director of Operations Development, effective from 01 February 2023. Starting off the day, the Acting Chief of Staff of the SA Army Support Formation, Colonel W. V. L. Dube, who was running the program, called upon the National Ceremonial Guard Chaplain, Chaplain M. Peters, to open the event with a scripture reading and prayer to bless the event.
An emotional moment came when the Support Formation Representative, Colonel S. E. Thinane and the Officers Commanding the units under command gave their farewell speeches and showered the Outgoing General Officer Commanding with gifts and tokens of appreciation, as some of them called them. The Officer Commanding Army Support Base Limpopo, Colonel T. A. Mukwevho, in his speech, stated that the General Officer Commanding always made sure he gave the unit pressure in order to acquire better results, and the unit achieved more under the leadership of the Major General M.J Tyhalisi.
He further alluded that under the leadership of Major General Tyhalisi, they started to take position two for the overall performance of units under command. He further stated that the Outgoing General Officer Commanding was always part of planning and always ready to support.
The Officers Commanding the units under command also utilised this opportunity to give some gifts as a sign of appreciation to the Outgoing SA Army Support Formation Chief of Staff, Major General H.J. Stroebel. The National Ceremonial Guard Band entertainment band kept the crowd entertained throughout the event.
The Outgoing General Officer Commanding, Major General M.J. Tyhalisi, gave his heart-warming speech where he applauded all the Officers Commanding the units under command for always giving full cooperation, resulting in the success of all the unit projects that he launched during his time in the Support Formation making mention of the existing bakeries. The General Officer Commanding also gave thanks to everyone who was present during the event.
