Zambia: Construction works of Paul Mushindo University in Chinsali District in Muchinga Province has resumed after a halt of five years. The which had stalled for over 5 years have resumed after the government announced the intention to complete all the unfinished projects.
The government wants to make sure that all the higher learning institutions in the country are completed and functioning. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, Kelvin Mambwe.
The officials have revealed that the project the completion of the project which started in 2013 has been long overdue.
The Ministry of Education stakeholder was was inspecting the progress of the project in Chinsali when he made these remarks. Dr Mambwe said the fact that the works on the university has resumed is evidence of the Government’s commitment towards ensuring that infrastructure developmental projects for public universities that were stalled are completed.
Further COVEC Zambia has been chosen to do the project. The contractor said that the works on the site are progressing well and more equipment for the construction project is expected to arrive soon.
The construction of the educational institution is crucial for the development of the country. They have also noted that the people have been looking forward to this development for several years.
Senior Chief Nkula of the Bemba people of Chinsali district has extended his sincere gratitude to the adminstration of the country. He said that he is thankful to President Hakainde Hichilema that he is working on completing the project.
He added that the completion of the learning institution will be a milestone to the district and the province at large. According to the senior chief of the Bemba people, Paul Mushindo University will be the second public university in Chinsali.
Currently , the district only has the Kapasa Makasa University which is providing tertiary education to the youngsters of the Chinsali District. The additional university will add to the district’s capacity to accommodate education seekers.
