Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit met the residents of the Calibishie village and addressed some concern on construction plans.

Dominica: The Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, met with the residents of the Calibishie village and addressed some issues of concern affecting the people. The government is constructing a new Primary school in the Calibishie village.

The construction of the new primary school will allow the children of the community get access to quality education. The Prime Minister shared that he was delighted to see the members of the community take active interest in the construction process.

He shared some images from the consultation activity held on Wednesday on his social media, delighted by the success of the initiative. The people of the village reached out to the Prime Minister with some concerns regarding the construction plans.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to interact with the villagers and got their views on the project. The Prime Minister assured the people that they would take the suggestions into account.

After the consultation, the Prime Minister noted that they would now proceed with the proposed plans for construction.

Prime Minister of Dominica announced that they will extend the playing field in accordance with the suggestions of the villagers. Further, the officials committed to ensuring that farm access road, located behind the property, is rebuilt.

For the successful construction of the primary school, the government will move to acquire additional lands. The newly acquired land will be utilized for the extension of the playing field.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit noted that they will continue to engage in regular communication with the community. The government is dedicated to ensuring that all the students of the country can get access to quality education.

The administration is constructing the primary school under the mandate of rehabilitating infrastructure destroyed in 2017 Hurricane Maria. The natural calamity had caused serious destruction of property on the island.

The Skerrit led administration announced that they will construct six educational facilities which were destroyed in the Hurricane. The People’s Republic of China is also helping the government of Dominica in the construction of the school.

Recently, the government of Dominica launched the construction phase of the Tribaud Primary School. The other schools which are being constructed under the China Aid Project for the Reconstruction of Schools Post-Hurricane Maria include:

  • Goodwill Secondary School
  • Sineku Primary School
  • Bellevue Chopin Primary School
  • Tete Morne Primary Schools

The people of Dominica appreciated the Prime Minister for taking the time to interact with the villagers in Calibishie. He was hailed for being a good leader and Prime Minister to his people.
