South Africa: Free State Premier Maqueen Letsoha Mathae has extended substantial support to schools. The schools in the province are organizing study camps for students sitting for their final National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams.
The Premier of the Free State has appreciated the members of the community for their gestures. The Premier had visited the study camps with the members of her executive council.
She called the initiative generous and compassionate. The aim of the visit was to ensure that the schools of the province are ready for the examination.
She also took the time to extend her sincere best wishes to the students who are appearing for the exams. The leaders have shared that they visited a number of schools for the assessment of the readiness.
At Grassland Secondary School in Bloemfontein, Premier Letsoha-Mathae committed to providing groceries to schools running study camps. The aim of this gesture is to make sure that that students have nourishing meals without burdening parents or the school budgets. This measure aims to relieve families of financial stress, allowing learners to focus solely on their exams.
The Premier noted that every learner deserves the best environment to succeed. “Many of our children come from modest or impoverished backgrounds, with some relying on the school nutrition programme for their only meal of the day,” she said. “It is our duty to extend a helping hand, especially during this important time that shapes their future.”
In line with this, the Premier has already delivered support to both Grassland Secondary and Thabo Vuyo Secondary in Rouxville. The donation was made in partnership with a number of social partners
Premier Mathae is working around the clock to ensure that similar assistance is extended to schools across all five districts of the Free State. She wants to make sure that no learner faces additional pressures during this critical phase of their academic journey.
“Our commitment as a province is to give our youth every possible opportunity to succeed, so they can achieve their dreams and aspirations,” she concluded.
This initiative reinforces the Free State’s dedication to fostering educational success and equality for all learners, especially as they approach this transformative chapter of their lives.
