President Kiir welcomes newly appointed Press Secretary
South Sudan, Juba, 5th October 2022: President Salva Kiir Mayardit today received Lily Adhieu Martin Manyiel, newly appointed Press Secretary in the Office of the President.
Adhieu is the first female Press Secretary to serve in the position since the establishment of the Presidential Press Unit.
In her remarks to the media after the meeting with the President, Lily Adhieu Martin said the Press Secretary’s role is not only critical in disseminating information on policies and the day-to-day activities of the President but also as an important communicator between the Citizens and the Presidency.
She said she believes in teamwork to steer the Presidential Press Unit to new heights.
“While it is a challenging responsibility that requires incredible dedication and sacrifice, I cannot think of any higher honour and privilege than to serve His Excellency the President and the people of South Sudan in this capacity. I’m fully prepared for the task. As a firmer believer in teamwork, I will work closely with the existing team to steer the Presidential Press Unit to new heights.” said Adhieu.
She pledged to develop closer and cordial working relations between the media fraternity and the Office of the President.
“To our colleagues in the media fraternity, my team and I look forward to developing a closer and cordial working relationship as you are key stakeholders in making South Sudan a better and more open society. My office will be open for you.” She further added.
