Botswana: President of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi attended a high level meeting on “industrialisation, agricultural modernisation and green development – the path to modernisation”. The meeting was hosted at the 2024 Summit for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in China during the second day.

The event, which is being hosted in Beijing has emerged as a platform for the members of the African Community to discuss several issues of mutual importance. The officials leadership of China has pledged to support their African counterparts and allies in their development goals.
The President of China had pledged support to the African constituency in various development projects. The officials have shared that the forum spanning three day will also feature a number of crucial engagements between the African leaders.
The President of Botswana is accompanying a team of high level officials to his trip to China. The high level meeting on “industrialisation, agricultural modernisation and green development – the path to modernisation will help in steering thee nation’s development agenda.
President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi said Botswana has invested heavily in the agricultural sector and is implementing agricultural support programmes that promote access to innovation financing, and the best technology for both crops and livestock.
The President spoke during the meeting and shared the steps that they had taken in Botswana, successfully driving development in the country, in several sectors of the nation. According to Dr Masisi Botswana has intensified efforts to seek collaborative partnerships for the transformation of the agriculture sector.
He added that China is a very important strategic partner of the nation. He also said that Botswana can learn from its technological achievements.
President Masisi said that they need international support in the agriculture sector. This will help Africa to realise her goal of food security and sustainable development.
