Zambia: Residents of Kalusa Village in Central Province are delighted for the development of the water harvesting dam in the community. The officials have shared that the organization has been conducting the feasibility survey.
The administration has shared that they are working on constructing a rain water harvesting dam in the area. The dam construction will help in improving water availability in the communities as rain water can be safely stored and used.
The dam will also help in making water safer and more accessible to the communities which are facing the worst affects of climate change. The authorities have also noted that the people have been waiting for the construction of the project to begin.
Zambia Diaspora and Migration Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Dean Mulozi spoke about the importance of the dam project. He says that the dams will ease access to water. by the local people, amidst the effects of climate change.
The communities have been negatively affected by the affect of water shortages and other issues associated with climate change. As a consequence, they have to move from the villages and rural areas.
The communities have been calling for better infrastructure projects to ease these issues. The authorities believe that the project will go a long way in addressing the challenges. Several stakeholders were present at the feasibility study for the dam.
In addition to members of the community, Kalusa Village Headman, Goodfellow Lupenga also thanked the government over the project.
Government is constructing the dam through the ministry of Water Development and Sanitation. The ministry partnered with Zambia Diaspora and Migration Foundation for the construction.
The rain water harvesting dams will be constructed in the central province. The images from the feasibility study have been shared by the departments and suggest that the work is going at a satisfactory pace.
The administration has been working hard to make sure that the project can benefit a large number of community members.
