Cameroon: Rigobert Song has been relieved from the position of coach from Cameroon’s National Football Team ‘FECAFOOT’. The contract of coach Song with the Indomitable Lions has come to an end.
The announcement was made by the president of the national team ‘Samuel Eto’o’ in an interview. The team FECAFOOT has also released an official press note regarding the new changes.
In the note released on Feb 28, 2024, it is written that, “Today the Executive Committee of the Cameroon Football Federation ‘FECAFOOT’, notified the members of the Indomitable Lions staff about the end of their contract to manage the Cameroon’s Senior Men’s National Team.”
Through the official note the team extends their gratitude to the coach and wrote, “FECAFOOT took this opportunity to thank Mr Rigobert Song Bahanag and his assistants for their dedication, towards the service of the nation, during the active two years for which they have been in charge.’
“In the next few days, the details of the recruitment process for a new Indomitable Lions coaching staff will be announced,” informed the officials.
Confirming about it president Samuel Eto’o said in an exclusive interview on FRANCE 24 that the coach has brought a lot to the team but the laws of football are what they are.
He added, “We have not achieved our objectives and our executive board and myself do not see ourselves renewing the contract.”
President Eto’o mentioned that he had an opportunity to talk with Song about it. “I have given our positions and now it’s time to think ahead, while wishing him every success in his future career,” said Eto’o.
He expressed, “Allow me to pay a tribute to Rigobert Song who was my captain in the National Team.”
Following the release of the note many people and soccer lovers have expressed their views and opinions.

Another person named, Pat Ikom, commented, “The people take note! Many thanks to Mr Song and his staff. Good luck to the Lions Indomitable in all categories. Thank you to the President of the Republic for listening to the people.”
Another fan of the team Camille WeiBherz wrote, “He’s not the only one responsible for the Indomitable Lions failure at the AFCON 2023. All of you in FECAFOOT are responsible for this.”
