Zambia: Government has applauded Rotary Club for investing in six million United States Dollars in the Malaria Partner Zambia Campaign Programme. The government of Zambia has been working with the health stakeholders to fight Malaria.
Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana reflected that the club has been supporting the mandate. Their diverse works such as the six million United States Dollars investment in the Malaria campaign in Muchinga and Central provinces cannot go unnoticed.
He acknowledged that the rotary continues to serve masses selflessly. He said this during the installation ceremony of Ndola Rotary Club President Andrew Musunga in Ndola.
Kawana noted that the Rotary Club has continued to supplement government’s efforts of eradicating Polio for many years now. He pointed out that the Ndola Rotary Club has also played an instrumental role in the creation of the Northern Technical College (NORTEC).
He also added that the organization also developed the Mushili Skills Training Center for over 60 years now. He said that this was achieved through working together with the Ndola City Council.
Kawana said the impact of the rotary’s work in alleviating human suffering cannot be over emphasized. Ndola Rotary Club president, Andrew Musunga disclosed that community service has always been part of his life style.
Musunga noted that he has been a member of the Young Men’s Christian Association and the Ys Men International. Through both the organization he has been groomed in leadership skills and community work.
He has since pledged to revive the Special Needs School and donate a Dialysis Machine to Ndola Teaching Hospital.
He also disclosed that the Club will come through to rehabilitate the water reticulation system as well as restore the Jip-limb project at Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital.
Musunga noted that it is only through dedication and collaboration that the club will be able to foster developmental projects that are outlined for this year.
The Ndola Rotary Club outgoing President Valerie Bwalya who has been installed as one of the directors by Musunga has since pledged to work hand in hand with the president for the advancement of the club.
The Ndola Rotary Club has existed from as far as 1953 with Andrew Musunga being the 73 President.
