Saint Lucia: Ernest Hilaire, the deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia participated in the Nation wide celebration of the Jounen Kweyol. He urged the people Saint Lucia to remain safe while they enjoy the traditional creole celebration.

The country was lit up with joy as various communities highlighted their different offerings for the 2023 Kweyol. Hilaire also shared some glimpses from his own celebration of the country’s long standing tradition.

The celebrations were hosted by 3 communities in Saint Lucia, Mabouya Valley, Canaries & Soufrière. During the celebration of the Jounen Kweyol, the people of the country get the opportunity to indulge in the local foods and beverages . The people also enjoyed the different cultural showcases held across the country on the day of the main event.

Hilaire shared some glimpses from his visit to the various communities in the country to participate in the celebrations. The Deputy Prime Minister started his celebration with Started with breakfast in the Souf. Additionally, he also enjoyed other cultural activities, such as:
• Exhibition
• Bamboo Bursting
• Traditional toys.

Deputy PM Hilaire was excited to announce that he was able to engage with and meet many friends from years ago. Later, he went on to enjoy the Bon Fete Kweyol at the Canaries Community. Talking about his experience at the festivities, the political leader stated that the Solo was on Point.

Finally, he visited the Dennery North Community where he enjoyed the vibe and celebration at the venue. Talking about his experience, he claimed that the one thing you can be guaranteed about when it comes to Dennery North, it is that they have ‘vibe’ in abundance.

He stated that Until you drop by in the Valley for your Jounen Kweyol lime, you are really missing the vibe. He further added that, “I must declare that the bouillon from Jimo was the best!”

The prime minister of the country, Philip J Pierre also encouraged the people of Saint Lucia to celebrate the remarkable history of their homeland.
