KwaZulu Natal (Whetstone): Reaction Unit South Africa asked for Public assistance in order to locate 34-year-old Jerome Pillay. Pillay has been missing since Friday evening.

The family of Pillay contacted RUSA officers to locate him. According to the caller, Pillay was bound to a light pole and assaulted by two (2) members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) in Whetstone – KZN on Friday (05/01/2024) at approximately 21:30. His limp body was loaded into a black vehicle (make & registration unknown) and transported from the area.

He cannot be located since. The incident was allegedly witnessed by residents who were afraid to contact Law Enforcement for fear of retaliation.

Reaction Unit also posted this information on their official social media page, where they asked for Public support. They also mentioned, “Please share this post and if anyone has information regarding Pillay’s location, kindly contact Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) on 086 1234 333.”

Residents are also asking the Police to do something as Crime is increasing in the country, especially during the festive season.

One of the residents, Avinash Jagannath, also a resident of Whetstone, believe that this happened because of CPF.

He stated, “CPF or other people had done this….the people are known…that is why the resident declined to call law enforcement. They know what those people are capable of… SIMPLE.”

Furthermore, he continued by saying, “Every member of that CPF group should be brought in for questioning. Hope he’s found safe.”

Another resident replied to Jagannath, “We need religious organisation, places of worship. We need to address drug addictions and alcohol abuse. Let’s help build our people.”

More than half of the residents are blaming CPF for this kidnapping, and because of this, one of the residents said, “I will forward this to our CPF Executive Committee to investigate. It could be people posing as CPF members.”
