Selebi Philwe: Social and Community Development Department of Social Welfare organized a strong emotional exercise for children who lost their parents. The district council of Selebi Phikwe shared some images from the event on their social media.
The emotional exercise for the children was hosted at the Mayor’s village in Ark & Mark area. The people of the community praised the organizer for taking this initiative. The people believe that the event will help the children deal with their emotions in a constructive and safe manner
Cohort 7 children’s group attended this workshop starting October 30 (30/10/2023) and are expected to finish on November 10 (10/11/2023). The organizers announced that the community will welcome them in January.
Sixteen children, including both girls and boys attended the emotional exercise. The main goal is to coax them to accept the loss of a parent caused by death. The age of the attendants was between 12 and 13.
Research suggests that during teenage years, children are embarking on self-discovery and self-awareness. Accordingly, the organizers felt that it was important for the children to participate in the exercise.
Baby fingerprint is called ‘My Palm- Right of Affirmation,’ and it’s meaning is a true example of a human being. This example shows a child’s commitment to attend an emotional exercise class and will come out as a winner.
The attendants in this children’s camp don’t name each other and their teachers. They are all called RELATIONSHIPS. Through this, the organizers and the attendants want to convey that they are the same and the circumstances play the same and get comfortable and drink the right lessons.
The Independence Ministry Lucky Manyepedza, Cecelia Olefile and Tobo take care of these children. The people of Selebi Phikwe expressed their appreciation to the initiative organisers.
