South Africa: 30 year old male was apprehended by Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) a short while ago.
The suspect was found fleeing the scene of a Housebreaking on Honeysuckle Road – Brindhaven at approx 12:30 (Friday).
Reaction Officers blocked off all entry/exits to the area after receiving a call from a male reporting a break-in in progress. The caller informed the Operations Center that he could hear a suspect in his home and screamed in an attempt to scare off the perpetrator.
When Officers apprehended the fleeing man, he explained that he was in the area seeking financial assistance and donations. No items were found in his possession & the homeowner could not identify him as he had no visual of the suspect at any stage.
Reaction Officers searched the nearby bushes for several pairs of branded shoes, a drill & a Samsung mobile phone believed to have been abandoned by the suspect. A laptop that was removed by the perpetrator was found on the property.
When Reaction Officers conducted a background check on the suspect, it was established that he was sentenced to twenty four (24) months in Westville Prison in 2012 for Drug Dealing.
The suspect was later released.
