TB, HIV-AIDS Comprehensive Clinic launched in Moi-Voi County

Kenya- Taveta County Governor Mwadime-Wakujaa launched the new TB and HIV/AIDS Comprehensive Clinic at the Moi-Voi County Referral Hospital Yesterday, Friday, December 1, 2023. The Hospital has been launched in strategic partnership with AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF-Kenya).

Several delegations from the Government of Moi-Voi county, AHF Kenya Medical Centre, etc, attended the Launch.

During the Launch, The County Governor, Mwadime-Wakujaa, engaged in several discussions with the AHF-Kenya Medical Director, Dr Jessie Kwatampora.

While speaking to the Director, Wakujaa also affirmed his commitment to working with development partners. He also ensured that he is dedicated to work towards his manifesto of transforming the people’s lives.

“We will remain steadfast in deepening, reinforcing and expanding our collaboration with stakeholders in different sectors because we are ambitious to achieve sustainable development goals,” Said Governor Mwadime

Deputy Governor Christine Kilalo was also present among the delegations. During the event, she emphasized various aspects of promoting health:
reducing AIDS-associated mortality
new infections by creating awareness
applying multisectoral approach
expanding the capacity of health facilities

To offer high-quality, sustainable, and holistic HIV care and treatment services.

Christine Kilalo said that behavioural change is a crucial component. The public should consider preventing HIV transmission, citing reckless sexual behaviour among the youth. This has highly contributed to the increase of new infections in the county.

Meanwhile, AHF-Kenya Medical Director Kwatampora said AHF-Kenya is working on strengthening partnerships with counties to upscale the development of HIV Testing Services (HTS).

These Services are working towards achieving the United Nations (UN) 95–95–95 testing, treatment and viral suppression targets.

County Executive Committee Member for Health Services Gifton Mkaya said that medics providing HIV/AIDS and TB care and treatment services and their clients will now have a conducive working environment, which is essential in tackling discrimination directed at people perceived to have HIV/AIDS.
