Botswana: The Tonota District Council hosted the highly anticipated Mr. & Miss RADP district finale over the previous weekend. The pageant and fashion show took place at Letlhabile Junior Secondary School in Tonota village.

The event was hosted after a series of successful auditions held in Gojwane and Mabesekwa villages in August. The officials have shared that the final of the pageant and fashion show was attended  by several members of the community.

Deputy Council Chairman for Tonota District, Lepate Tshomane opened the event, stressing its importance in identifying and nurturing talent from rural areas. He noted that this platform showcases the potential within the people of the villages in the district council.

The event was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and former member of parliament for Shashe West, Fidelis Molao. The Minister praised the council for organizing such a significant occasion and wished all contestants good luck on the occasion.

Guest speaker of the event, Mpho Leboane encouraged participants to aim for excellence in order to retain the district’s national crown. With this he recalled the winner of the last year’s Miss RADP Pageant.

He urged contestants to apply the skills and confidence gained from their recent boot camp to enhance their performances.

Leboane also motivated the contestants to hone their talents, aspiring to represent Botswana on international stages in the future. The event highlighted not only the beauty and charisma of the contestants but also the region’s rich cultural heritage, reaffirming the commitment to empowering youth through such initiatives.

At the end of the event, CDSS chairman Moipidi Molobeng expressed sincere gratitude to all the contestants for their involvement, emphasizing how these events foster positive engagement and steer youth away from less constructive paths.

He urged parents to encourage their children to participate in similar competitions, stressing the importance of building confidence and resilience. For those who did not win, he offered encouraging words, reminding them to stay hopeful and continue competing.

He concluded by thanking all who supported the event, particularly those who braved the cold to attend and cheer for the participants.
