Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Darsanand Balgobin launched the Mauritius Post Parcel Centre

Mauritius: Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Darsanand Balgobin launched the Mauritius Post Parcel Centre on Wednesday. The centre is a part of the Mauritius Post Ltd and is established in the Tribeca Mall (Monde de la Maison.)

The launch of the service was attended by several eminent members of the community and government. The people of the island are delighted by the launch of the initiative. A Commemorative Plate was unveiled by the Minister of Information Technology et al, on Wednesday.

The Minister also delivered a keynote address on the launch event where he appreciated the intent of setting up the Post Parcel Center. He called the centre “Another step towards innovation and modernity.”

The Minister also highlighted that Tribeca Mauritius Post Parcel Centre is the 115th post centre of the MPL. He claimed that the Post and Parcel center is constantly undergoing advancement and working hard to cater to the needs of their customers.

During the launch event, Minister Balgobin underscored that e-commerce, both inland and international is very popular among the people of Mauritius. He recalled that in 2023 700 000 parcels were posted inland, while 600 000 parcels were posted for international shopping.

He noted that the trend of e-commerce is gaining rapid popularity among the people of Mauritius. He also added that they expect 1 million parcels inland and another 1 million international parcels for this year, he added.

The MPL has come up with this initiative in light of the developments that have been mentioned before. The aim of the Mauritius Post is to give parcel services in an easily accessible point for everyone.

He added that the Tribeca Mauritius Post Parcel Centre will be operational up to 18:45 Hours during weekdays. The working hours of the Parcel and post service will be up to 14 45 on Saturday, for the convenience of all customers.

Furthermore, the Minister of Information Technology remarked that the Government is ensuring that the right ecosystem with efficient internet connectivity is provided for, so that the population is able to benefit from booming online services.

Mr Balgobin also expressed gratitude to Courts Mammouth and Monde de la Maison for their collaboration in this project.

As regards MPL’s key projects in the pipeline, Minister Darsanand Balgobin announced the launching of a Mobile App, the setting up of Post Offices at Trou d’Eau Douce and Mare d’Australia, and decentralisation of services.
