Zimbabwe: Two men were accused of stealing a motor vehicle of the director of Kimsum Mining Company in Mutoko. The accused were presented in the court for the trial.

The complainant filed the complaint, Wu Can, aged 40. Culprits Niu Shihao, aged 53 and Wang Runzhi, aged 51, were remanded out of custody on Feb 06 by Harare regional magistrate – Stanford Mambanje.

As per the reports, Niu and Runzhi are not at all related to the complainant, but they share a common accommodation in Highlands, Harare.

According to the prosecution, Ethel Mahachi alleged that on Nov 11, 2023, Wu left Zimbabwe for France to visit the family of the director.

At that time, he then left all his property intact under the custody of his maid, Deliah Chirenje. However, on Nov 25, the court held the hearing and heard Niu and Wang, who designed the duplicate keys in order to steal an Isuzu KB250 with registration number AEN3038, which belonged to Wu.

As per the narration, the pair allegedly entered Wu’s house and stole a washing machine, a pressure cooker, a solar battery and some bed sheets, among other items.

The actual matter started highlighting when another tenant contacted Wu, Ma Ping Ying, advising him of the attempted offence.

The offence was the reason to force Wu to return to the country on Dec 27, last year, and he filed a police report regarding the same at Zimbabwe Republic Police in Highlands.

Notably, the court heard them on Jan 12, as the detectives from the Vehicle Theft Squad of the Criminal Investigation Department received the information on the whereabouts of both, leading to their arrest.

As per the reports, the stolen motor vehicle was recovered, though it had broken down, and the stolen property was calculated as valued at US $15,000, and US $13,500 was recovered.
