Zambia: Minister of Water Development and Sanitation, Collins Nzovu has announced that Zambia is hosting the 26th edition of the Waternet and Global Water Partnership-Southern Africa (GWP-SA) Integrated Water Resources Management symposium. The event is aimed at making people more aware about the importance of resource management.
The members of the community have shared that the symposium is hosted every year and brings together Southern African Nations to discuss the issue of water management.
The officials have shared that the members of the community will be given the opportunity to learn about water conservation. The officials have shared that the event will be taking place in the final quarter of the year in October.
Minister of Water Development and Sanitation, Collins Nzovu hass shaed that the symposium will be attended by representatives from around Southern Africa. The officials have shared that they are also happy to participate
Nzovu has pledged his support to the organizers of the symposium. He assured both Waternet and GWP-SA that Zambia will support the hosting of the symposium.
The official dates for the symposium are October 29 to 31, 2025. The leaders will take the opportunity to share some images from the The theme of the symposium will be: ‘Accelerating Implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management in Order to Close the Investment gap by 2030 and Beyond in Southern and Eastern Africa’.
The Minister made these announcements during a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between his ministry and the said organisers in Lusaka on the sidelines of the ongoing Third African Implementation and Partnership Conference (PANAFCON-3).
He delivered a brief address before the signing of the MoU. Secretary, Romas Kamanga, said the symposium has been held annually in the Eastern and Southern African regions. The annual event has a history spanning the last 25 years and helps to promote interaction between policy makers, academia, and water practitioners, among others.
