Buganda, East Africa: The programme was launched by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Works and Technology, Hon. Prof. Twaha Kigongo Kaawaase, yesterday morning in Kireka.
He warned Ugandans about the dangers of desertification.
He urged all people to increase their efforts in planting trees by drying the entrance of planting the Kabaka’s forest in their homes.
He is the Attorney General and Minister of Local Government, Hon. Christopher Bwanika urged the government to implement wedding laws to help save the environment by punishing those who violate them.
The Hon. Mariam Nkalubo Mayanja, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Environment, and Welfare, urged people to work together to save natural resources from those who are fighting to destroy them.
Kaggo, Mr. Agnes Nakibirige Ssempa, the husband of the Kabaka of Kyaddondo, has urged the people of Buganda to pay more attention to doing good.
They started at the looke park in Kireka, where people have been cleaning up the whole area amidst the stirring of the buzz, while Hon. Kaawaase, where he first planted a tree and urged them to pay more attention to the environment.
Later, Hon. Mariam Nkalubo Mayanja, together with the Locals, led the people in planting trees around the Palace Wall.
The theme of this year’s programme is “Strengthen welfare to save the environment”,. and everyone is encouraged to have a King Forest at home.
