Western Cape Police arrests four, for illegal possession of vehicle and firearm

Western Cape, South Africa: SAPS (South African Police Service) members has arrested the four suspects for the possession of a hijacked vehicle. The Police officers with the quick response of Harare Crime prevention Unit has also arrested the culprits in the illegal possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property on Thursday, May 02, 2024.

According to the reports from the office of the Provincial Commissioner Western Cape, Sergeant Wesley Twigg reported that the police members were busy with crime prevention duties in Mandela Park.

Reportedly, it was at the Mandela Park that they received the information of a vehicle which was hijacked. Later they drive to the Govan Mbeki Road and spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the cunning driver sped up and ran off.

Later, the vehicle was then stopped when the police vehicles cornered the vehicle. The members then searched the vehicle and the occupants found a 9mm pistol and cellular telephones inside the vehicle.

As per the sources, the four suspected culprits were arrested between the dates April 24 and 27.  The suspected criminals are expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court, once they have been charged.

Furthermore, in an unrelated intervention, the police members of the Maitland Flying Squad has arrested three adult male from foreign nationals on Thursday evening, May 02, 2024.

According to the reports, they searched a premises in Winsor Park, Kraaifontein and recovered 716 units of abalone and drying equipment in the house. The culprits of the incident are expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ on Monday, May 06, 2024.

Notably, Abalone is an expensive seafood, which is considered and liked for its delicacy and for its chewy and unique tasting flesh.

Moreover, abalone poaching is considered illegal because in order to sustain and protect the abalone population, the one cannot harvest abalone from the ocean without a permit license.
