Botswana: Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Nnaniki Makwinja applauded the World Group of Companies for their support to the education sector. The organization has showcased unwavering commitment in exercising corporate social responsibility.

World Group of Companies has donated school uniforms fabrics, blankets, balls and snacks to schools in Ditshukudu village and Kweneng settlement; The donation amounted to over two hundred and fifty thousand Pula.

The donation was made to the Ditshukudu and Vermulen primary schools respectively. The Ministry of Education and Skills Development has extended their gratitude to the companies for the donation.

Unwavering support from community and business leadership at schools is said to boost students’ morale, confidence and dignity. Thus, the learners will be able to achieve better academic excellence through community support.

Nnaniki Makwinja made these remarks while she was highlighting the importance of the donation for the students.

She hailed the donation as thoughtful and generous gesture from the World Group Companies. She asserted that the programme will go a long way in addressing issues of school dropout due to lack of uniform.

At the end of the day, the donation will create a sense of belonging and equality among the students.

She further noted that the two schools are being disadvantaged by their location, as they are in the remotest areas. However, the students will now have their dignity restored and bridge the gap between them and any other students.

Makwinja finally called for a healthy relationship between the parents, government and NGOs of the district. She said the initiative by the World Group should mark the genesis of a collective effort to tackle challenges faced by the students from their homes.

The Vermulen Primary School Head, Aquillah Nkhii, expressed gratitude at the reception of the gesture. She said that despite being located far from the resources, they have been recognized.

She further said she was content the gesture will help improve academic results since no student will abscond due to the fear of being stigmatized for having no proper school uniform.

She concluded that saying the balls will also aid the physical wellbeing of the students, and ultimately produce globally competitive football stars.
