Zambia: Advocates for the Declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation have donated an assortment of items to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to fight Cholera.
The donated items include boxes of hand sanitiser, cases of toilet tissue and boxes of chlorine.
Speaking during the prayer session, Advocates for the declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation Chairperson Billy Mfula implored the government to work with the church in addressing the cholera epidemic.
Bishop Mfula said the church should not be left behind in the fight against the cholera epidemic as the church and government are key partners who should work side by side.
The Clergyman stressed that the relationship between government and the church is vital for national building, hence the call for the two institutions to work together.
Bishop Mfula said the role of the church should not just end at donating material substances to fight Cholera but go beyond by offering hope to families and individuals affected by Cholera.
He said it is the assignment of the church to give hope and encouragement to the nation in difficult times.
Bishop Mfula said the church can help in bringing about the renewal of mind-set by encouraging communities to embrace cleanliness.
He said the government should engage the church whenever it wants to speak to the community, as the church is made up of members who come from the targeted community.
Bishop Mfula said the intentions of the church are pure, hence its desire to work with the government.
The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) acting Director of Operations, Paul Samboko, thanked the church for lending a helping hand to the government.
Samboko said the donation will assist in the fight against the cholera epidemic.
He implored the church to support the government’s efforts in promoting preventive measures such as keeping surroundings clean. Samboko commended the church for rendering spiritual support through prayers.
