Zambia: The Zambia Defense University (ZDU) Steering Committee travelled to Kenya over the previous week. The committee travelled to the Eastern African nation for a benchmarking visit.
The aim of the project was to learn more about how to structure and construct a National Defense University. The Defense sector of Zambia will see a improvement with the new knowledge that they will be getting on this trip.
The Zambia army has shared some images from the trip on their social media account. The authorities have shared that the team which travelled to Kenya were led by Brigadier General Bennie Banda.
Brigadier Banda serves as the Chairman of the Steering Committee. Under his leadership the delegation visited a number of institutions for the educational tour.
The institutions on this list include:
- The National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K)
- National Defence College (NDC)
- The Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC)
- The International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC).
The Zambia Defense University Committee members were received by Zambia’s High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya, Alfred Musemuna. The high Commissioner was also accompanied by Zambia’s Defence Attaché to Kenya, Brig Gen Mutale, and his staff. The committee attended a number of meetings with the defense stakeholders of Kenya.
The authorities have shared that it is important for the two nations to work together. The nations can benefit tremendously from the exchange of ideas that is taking place during this visit.
The meetings that the committee attended featured some presentations on the importance of a Defence University in international relations and conflict resolution. The officers also discussed interconnectedness, interdependence, and defence strategy.
The meetings were aimed at highlighting the potential of international Civil-Military Partnerships. Nations as well as civil authorities working together can help improve national defense universities.
As a result of improvements in the Defence Universities, national security will also witness vast improvements. After the presentations, the group were taken on guided tours and overview briefings of the NDU-K, NDC, JCSC, and IPSTC schools.
It explored various departments, including military, social, economic, agricultural, and ecological affairs.
