Zambia: The football association family of Zambia gathers today at the Government Complex of Zambia for the 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM). Today’s caucus has been preceded by ten provincial assemblies as part of the set-up under the FIFA aligned FAZ constitution.
FAZ has, in strict adherence with its constitution, furnished the delegates with requisite documents within the established constitutional deadlines. Members with lingering proposals were given 60 days within which to send them to the office of the General Secretary.
The delegates will also reflect on the happenings of the last 12 months that have seen some milestones scored around the administrative and pitch performance side of national teams. Within the last 12 months, the Chipolopolo has lifted the Cosafa crown and kept their back-to-AFCON campaign in Group H firmly on course and is within a point of qualification.
Zambia lifted all the Cosafa crowns except the u17 girls. The biggest talking point is the FIFA World Cup qualification of the Copper Queens after finishing third at the WAFCON.
Delegates will also be zeroing in on the various developmental projects spearheaded by the Andrew Kamanga headed the executive committee. Under the revised FAZ constitution, meetings have been organized with a modicum of order given the restricted attendees.
One of the highlights of any AGM is usually the conferring of the life membership status of outstanding servants of the game. The AGM is expected to start at 09:00 hours, with sports minister Elvis Nkandu being the guest of honour.NOTE: The 2023 AGM is non-elective.
However, the people of Zambia are still confused as they don’t have a confirmation about the issue; one of the users said, “We want to know has the issue of Mabike has gone silent like that; we want to see our Heroes who gave it all for the country being celebrated according, we want to Faz to come up with The Heroes cup not every Absa why can’t they be two cup competition,s we need Answers kaili.”
