Zambia: Flight Sergeant Simamuna Joseph Mwebo, a Senior Non- Commissioned Officer in the Zambia Air Force (ZAF), has had a feel of the “Zambia Kuchalo” slogan for the past two months. The slogan that in itself stands true to patriots working hard to raise the Zambian flag to fly as an equal on the international platform. The statement is not only true to him but he has walked the talk in his military career.
He is a seasoned drill instructor and paratrooper who currently serves as a Ceremonies and Parades Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO) in the ZAF under the office of the Air Force Warrant Officer.
Recently he was privileged to be accorded a leadership training opportunity to train with fellow SNCOs from other Air Forces at the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Academy in Alabama Maxwell Air Force base, USA.
The objective of the course is to develop and educate adaptive air minded Senior Enlisted Leaders to lead across emerging operational environments in order to advance the security and national interest of their nations. The course is intended to develop SNCOs across the total Force as leaders, professionals and advisors that commanders need.
The course which ran from June 31st to August 11th 2023 saw the participation from Air Forces of Zambia, Czech Republic, Philippines, Romania, Jordan, Malawi, Uganda,Niger and of course the host country itself, United States of America.
Seasoned instructors from the Germany, Canada and Australian Air Forces lectured the participants.
Flight Sergeant Simamuna says this course has enhanced his capability as a SNCO, and this has made him know things he didn’t know previously.
“It has shaped my leadership skills. I pledge to apply the knowledge and skills obtained from the academy to better my fellow NCOs in developing the Zambia Air Force in line with the Air Force Commander’s intent and help the Office of the Air Force Warrant Officer to strengthen the NCO corp,” he added.
ZAF continues to train it’s personnel to achieve tactical knowledge and skills required in modern military affairs.
