Zambia national Services (ZNS) has donated many sports equipments to the Kapona youngsters to promote sports in the community

Zambia: The government of Zambia has announced that they are committed to ensuring sports development in the country, especially in rural areas. Zambia National Service (ZNS) has donated many sports equipment to the Kapona District youngsters

The Kabompo District Commissioner Hubert Chinyanga made this announcement during a sports material handover ceremony. He explained the reason for his donation.

According to him sports is one of the activities that help maintain and improve people’s health.

He handed over assorted sports materials which included Jerseys, footballs, netballs and volleyballs to the district.

He stated that the New Dawn Government remains committed to the promotion of several sports activities in rural areas. The administration wants to promote sports as a platform of recreation, thereby reducing the abuse of alcohol and drugs.

“Government wants a healthy nation, and sports is one of the activities that help maintain and improve people’s health thus it remains number one policy to promote sports through provision of sports materials to communities especially rural communities,” Chinyanga said.

The donation is a fulfilment by the Zambia National Service (ZNS) Commander General Maliti Solochi who pledged to supply the sports items to the Kapona community during his visit to the area, recently.

General Maliti Solochi said it was his hope that the sports materials donated would uplift the lives of people in communities where ZNS operates, such as Kapona.

Speaking through his Representative, Lt. Col. Noel Mumbi, the ZNS Commander expressed his confidence in the people of Kapona and encouraged them to look after the sports items as they will improve their lives

Meanwhile, Headman Mukuyumo thanked the government and ZNS for fulfilling the promise of sending them sports materials.

The Headman said the gesture has boosted the morale of the people of Kapona even on other government projects earmarked to be implemented in the Kapona area.

Among the donated items included seven soccer balls, a set of 18 soccer jerseys, five netballs, a set of ten netball Jerseys, five volleyballs and volleyball Jerseys and 18 set sof soccer socks.
