Zimbabwe Tourism Industry in association with BRANDit, hosted a highly successful roadshow in Mumbai to highlight the diverse travel experiences of the country, to the Indian Market. The Roadshow was observed on August 22, 2024, that showcased the best of Zimbabwe’s Tourism offerings, by bringing together seventeen key stakeholders from the private sector.
It involved the tour operators, such as Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and representatives from both budget and luxury hospitality sectors, where all are eager to present as a prime travel destination.
As per the sources, the participants at the event featured the renowned DMCs and the activity operators such as Africa Travel Tours, Wild Horizons, Love for Africa, Mavigo Tours, Heritage Expeditions, Batoka Africa and Routes Through Africa.
However, the hospitality sector was represented by Bayete Collection, Shearwater, Rainbow Tourism Group and Zambezi Boutique, by offering a range of accommodations from affordable lodges to luxurious hotels.
The Luxury Safari experiences were highlighted by Forthergill Island, Zambezi Cruise & Safaris, also by Machaba Safaris. They added the allure – Chikopokopo Helicopters which showcased their high-end helicopter services.
Reportedly, the event was supported by the key figures such as Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry – Tongai M. Mnangagwa and the officials from the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, which considered Zimbabwe Tourism Attache in India – Sophia Hope T. Chimba.
The presence of Zimbabwean cricket legend Hamilton Masakadza added a notable touch to the proceedings, with the primary aim of the roadshow, to strengthen the ties between the tourism industries of Zimbabwe and India, by encouraging mutual growth and cooperation.
Zimbabwe is positioning itself as a top destination for Indian travellers, with its stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and welcoming hospitality.
The Roadshow featured engaging presentations and networking sessions, connecting more than 100-leading Indian travel professionals with Zimbabwe’s premier attractions, such as the majestic Victoria Falls, the wildlife-rich Hwange National Park and the ancient Matobo Hills.
Displayed presentations marked the appeal by Zimbabwe as a unique destination, that highlight its breath-taking landscapes, diverse safari experiences, vibrant cultural heritage and various adventure activities.
The message conveyed was clear that Zimbabwe is not just an add-on to other African trips but a distinguished destination in its own right. Zimbabwe has facilitated travel that has been made easier with daily flights to Harare offered by Emirates, Kenya Airways and Qatar Airways.
Emirates also runs daily services between Harare and Victoria Falls in partnership with FastJet, which was supplemented by the daily flights from air Zimbabwe. Ethiopian Airlines provided additional daily connections between India and Zimbabwe.
The Indian tourists can obtain visas on arrival, with single-entry visas that are available for US $30 and double entry visas for US $45.
Roadshow in Mumbai was successful and marked a significant step in enhancing Zimbabwe’s visibility and appeal in the Indian market, by paving the way for increased tourism and a stronger cultural connection between the two countries.
Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry – Tongai M. Mnangagwa stated that Zimbabwe is a treasure trove of countless experiences waiting to be explored. It is nestled in the heart of South Africa, the country offers a unique blend of wildlife, culture and adventure, by making it an ideal destination for Indian travellers.
Mnangagwa said that from the majestic Victoria Falls to the serene Matobo Hills and the pristine Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe is a dream for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
“We invite one and all to immerse in the rich cultural heritage, explore the historic ruins of ancient civilisations and discover the vibrant traditions that define Zimbabwe,” said the Deputy Minister.
The Minister added, “As we work to increase brand visibility and awareness in India, we recognise the immense potential of the tourism market. We invite the travel trade to partner with us and showcase the untapped beauty of the country Zimbabwe to Indian tourists.”
Zimbabwe is a country that offers unparalleled experiences, from close encounters with the Big Five on Safari to adrenaline-pumping adventure activities. Mnangagwa added to his statement that with full support for joint marketing initiatives, Zimbabwe is ready to welcome the Indian visitors with open arms.
Following this CEO of BRANDit – Lubaina Sheerazi, also gave her statement and said that BRANDit has always been at the forefront of introducing new and exciting destinations to the Indian Travel Trade and Zimbabwe is no exception.
According to her, their expertise lies not only in bringing up such destinations to light but also in adding the significant value to both the destination and India’s Travel Industry.
