Nigeria: The Afrobeat singer Davido has made an official announcement of donating a sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages. The rapper is extending the donation through his foundation ‘David Adeleke’.
He made the official announcement by sharing a post on his ‘X’ account (formerly known as Twitter), which he also shared on his facebook account.
Davido wrote, “I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria, as my yearly contribution to the Nation.”
He mentioned that he will reveal the details on Wednesday, “Details of disbursement tomorrow.”
As per the sources, Davido along with his foundation ‘David Adeleke Foundation’ makes donations annually to orphanages. In July 2023 also, the musician has donated two hundred and thirty-seven million Naira to over four hundred orphanages in Nigeria.
Since the foundation was established in 2022, it has made several donations to different orphanage homes across the country.
While granting the donations, Davido said, “In Oct 2022, the foundation began reaching out to eminent and compassionate Nigerians, seeking the support in raising funds for the less privileged, across the country.”
“Thanks to the generous contributions from individuals and corporations across various sectors and regions. The DAF was able to raise a substantial Donation Sum of 237 million Naira,” said Davido.
Davido added, “I would like to personally thank all individuals and corporations that assisted in raising the Donation Sum.” He mentioned that this would not have been possible without the unwavering support and kindness.
“May God bless everyone of you,” said the rapper.
Davido expressed, “This donation comes at a time when Nigerians are reeling against the backdrop of a harsh economy and surely will be a relief to the beneficiaries.
In Nov 2021, he donated 250 million Naira to 292 orphanages, in commemoration of his 29th Birthday.
