St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew visited the construction site of the new Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital to overview the work in progress and approval of all site plans, feasibility studies as well as the environmental and social impact study. He toured the site on Dec 12, 2025 and revealed that the construction of the new hospital will commence soon.
PM Drew officially handed over the site to the Overseas Engineering and Construction Company (OECC) and stated that it represents the culmination of an extensive planning and consultation process and the transition into visible on-the-ground development. He said that now they are at the stage where construction can begin and noted that OECC have been granted the access to the site and they will soon begin with the preparatory works, immediately after the ceremony.
Dr. Drew emphasised that the project is progressing well. He ensured that all the technical, environmental and regulatory requirements were satisfied considering the complexity and importance of building a modern hospital.
The new JNF General Hospital will be a climate resilient, state-of-the-art facility project that is designed to meet the current and future healthcare needs while strengthening the national preparedness and resilience.
Prime Minister Drew was conjoined by the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) – Edward Ling-wen Tao, representatives from OECC, Ambassador – Leon Natta Nelson and the senior officials from the Ministry of Health and JNF General Hospital.
PM Drew further acknowledged the continued partnership of the Republic of China (Taiwan) with St. Kitts and Nevis. He highlighted its critical role in supporting the development of modern healthcare infrastructure across the nation.
The new JNF General Hospital aims to significantly enhance the healthcare delivery, generate economic activity during the construction and serve as a cornerstone of the long-term investment by the government in the health and well-being of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis. Notably, the construction activities are expected to begin soon at the Camps site.
