Africa Weather Forecast announces weekly climate summary

Africa: Africa Weather Forecast launched its weekly summary (07 July – 23 July 2023); as per African weather reports, Cloudy, wet, cold and windy in the west on Tuesday and Wednesday but over the central and eastern parts from Thursday onwards.

Fine and cool over most of the country today and tomorrow (Tuesday), but partly cloudy in the southwest on Tuesday, with a high chance of light to moderate rainfall. Strong NW winds reaching 40-60km/h over central Northern Cape but lighter over western Free State, western North West, western Eastern Cape and eastern Western Cape.

On Wednesday, the cold front will shift east into Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, resulting in widespread light showers along the south coast most of the day, in the Eastern Cape around midday and the east (KwaZulu-Natal) later, while the rest of the country remains fine and cool to cold. 

Medium chance of light snow over the southern Northern Cape, northern Western Cape and north-western Eastern Cape. High chance of strong W-SW winds gusting at 60-80km/h along the south and southeast coasts at first, shifting towards the east coast later.

Most of Thursday will be cloudy and windy in the east with a high chance of light rainfall over the eastern escarpment and the south coast at first, followed by midday showers and thundershowers over the central and eastern regions (Free State, Gauteng and Eastern North West). 

There is a high chance of light to moderate snow over southern Karoo (north-eastern Western Cape, southern Northern Cape and northern Eastern Cape.

Over and into Friday, more showers and thundershowers are highly anticipated in the central interior, resulting in overnight and Friday morning showers spanning almost the entire country except for the western Northern Cape and Western Cape on Friday. 

(In summary, cloudy, cold, wet and windy over most of the country on Friday). High chance of strong NW-NE winds gusting at 40km/h over central Northern Cape but howling at a steady 30km/h elsewhere over the central and eastern interior on Friday.

On Saturday, much lighter showers and thundershowers are anticipated over the central and eastern interior, slowly shrinking into the eastern parts on Sunday. Otherwise, the weekend will most likely remain partly cloudy and cold, with very light rainfall in the east as the system subsides and exits the country.
