Africa: Africa Weather Forecast launched its weekly summary (05 June – 11 June 2023); as per African weather reports, Bitterly cold and partly cloudy across most of the country, fine and warm in the northeast (Limpopo) but cold, wet and windy in the west, particularly the far southwest near Cape Town.

This week will most likely remain bitterly cold with widespread frost over most of the southern and central interior (close to Lesotho), while Limpopo and the Lowveld remain relatively warm to slightly hot at times, warmest on Thursday.

It is cloudy over the central parts as the current cold front moves east, precipitating light rainfall accompanied by extremely isolated thunderstorms and light snowfall in places near eastern Lesotho.

At the same time, the west is partly cloudy with diminishing rainfall as the day progresses. And although fine weather dominates much of the far east at first, there is a medium chance of light afternoon and evening showers.

Between Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the next cold front will start by pulling showers back to the far west on Tuesday, leading to a high chance of moderate rainfall in the far southwest but light in places over the southern Northern Cape and the rest of Western Cape on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, these showers will inevitably shift east and into the rest of the southern Cape interior, ergo creating a medium chance of rainfall accumulations reaching 50mm in the far southwest, expanding into the central parts on Thursday (with less intensity). Low chance of light snowfall on Thursday over the northern Eastern Cape and Lesotho.

Friday is the day when the showers will most likely change direction and shift south towards the coastal regions, leaving partly cloudy skies in the south but continuously fine and cool elsewhere, keeping in mind that the northeast will have remained warm throughout the week.

High chance of light rainfall in the west on Saturday and moderate in the southwest as a seemingly weak cold front develops right behind the first. The rest of the country will most likely remain calm and cool but warm in the far northeast on Saturday, with more sunshine in the west on Sunday as the cold front quickly deflects towards the southeast.
