Botswana: Botswana Entertainment Promoters Association (BEPA) has approached the Gaborone City with an offer of partnership. They want to collaborate with the city council on organizing entertainment activities within the city.

BEPA says it aims to develop and uplift future projects within the entertainment circle. The government of Botswana has been working hard to promote the work of the creatives.

The officials have shared that Gaborone has emerged as a major platform for creatives of the nation to grow and flourish. Musicians, Singers, Dancers and entertainers have been helping in developing the economy of the nation.

The entertainment industry is emerging as an important source of income for the city administration. The entertainment sector attracts a number of tourists from various parts of the nation to experience and enjoy various events.

BEPA Executives paid a courtesy call on Town Clerk of the Gaborone City Council, Lopang Pule. During the meeting, they discussed the need for collaborations and assistance on the entertainment scenes.

Pule appreciated the visit by the association and stressed on the need for the association to have an impact on the livelihoods of Batswana. He advised the association to come up with a proposal which will give direction on the working partnership between the two parties.

Pule stressed that entertainment sector is one of the growing economic activities. He added that when the sector is nurtured well, it can benefit and employ most of the people of Botswana.

For his part, BEPA President, Gilbert Seagile  suggested to the Town Clerk, the need to make their association an advisory committee to GCC to advise on issues relating to the entertainment scope.

Seagile said such a move will allow for the review of policies and permits which will cater for all entertainment sectors. He suggested for collaboration on the use of open spaces within the City to build an entertainment hub.

Seagile said the hub will be used for different creative sectors which makes up the entertainment industry.
