Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) donated essential bakery equipment to Kutuku settlement. The donation initiative was hosted on Wednesday with the aim of empower the communities of Botswana.

The Kutuku Settlement is located in Mabutsane District and the people of the settlement were delighted to receive the assistance. BITC stakeholders provided the community members with a number of equipments for the local bakery.

These equipments will help them in developing the business which can give them economic empowerment and support their respective families. The leaders shared that the donation is part of BITC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The organization stakeholders also added that it aligns with the government’s Affirmative Action Framework for Remote Area Communities. The initiative seeks to bridge the development gap between remote areas and the rest of the country.

The donated equipment includes a 50L dough mixer and several of other bakery supplies for the local business.

The donation will help in supporting the bakery within Kutuku settlement which is a major source of bread within the community. This initiative is alsp expected to benefit the surrounding villages and the Mabutsane District as a whole.

The Bptswana Investment and Trade Center believes that the donation will increase the local supply of bread in the surrounding areas. This in turn will help in reducing reliance on suppliers from outside the district.

Nolly Dikgokgwane, the Deputy Council Chairperson of Mabutsane District Council appreciated the donation initiative. She is also  a patron of the Remote Area Development Programme (RADP) in the district.

She highlighted the importance of partnerships in fulfilling the council’s mandate. Accordingly, she urged BITC to continue collaborating with the district to build resilient communities and promote inclusive growth.

This donation by BITC is a significant step towards achieving the goals of the Affirmative Action Framework and the RADP. The donation is helping in empowering local communities to become self-sufficient.

Accordingly, this initiative will help in creating more jobs for the people. This in turn will help in the economic development of the district. The support that the bakery business has received from the organization will improve the overall well-being of Mabutsane District.
