The 18th Ordinary Session of the Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa (CISSA) has concluded. The conference featured four days of interaction and networking between the African security personnel in Gaborone, Botswana. The meeting was held under the theme “𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮” the conference was officially closed by the Minister for State President Kabo Morwaeng this afternoon.
In his remarks, Minister for State President Morwaeng expressed gratitude to the CISSA community for allowing Botswana to host this year’s conference. At the same time, the minister also informed the attendants of the CISSA that the “opportunity to host this conference aligns well with the decision of the President of the Republic of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, to position the country as a meeting and conferences hosting nation”.
Meanwhile, the minister also seized the opportunity to implore the CISSA community and Heads of Intelligence and Security organs to heighten their collaboration and cooperation to overcome Africa’s common security threats. It is worth a mention here that, CISSA is a collective body for Africa’s Intelligence and Security organs. The African Union etsblaished the organization in 2004 to assist the African Union and its institutions in effectively addressing the seemingly stubborn security challenges that Africa is facing.
Notably, during the meeting’s four-day tenure, African security personnel in Gaborone, Botswana, got the opportunity to discuss and interact with one another on various issues. The Director General of the Botswana Directorate of Intelligence and Security, Retired Brigadier Peter Magosi, was also present at the 18th Ordinary Session of the Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa (CISSA). During the event, the retired security official was conferred with the Chairmanship of the CISSA for twelve months.
