Botswana, Francistown: SPEDU Manager – Community Economic Facilitation, Keneilwe Mase, has said that National Arts Festival competitions continue to unearth talents, promote culture as well as intensify the spirit of nationhood through the celebration of Botswana Arts.
Mase was speaking at the performances by different groups and individuals who have outcompeted many other artists from their respective regions under categories of final competitions of mogolokwane, traditional instruments, poetry, comedy and drama held in Selibe-Phikwe Town Hall over the weekend.
The Manager accentuated that hosting these festivals in their town has come at an opportune time as they try to revive Selibe-Phikwe and restore it to a vibrant town with endless opportunities for economic growth.
She said that the government continues to promote and grow the Creatives in Botswana strongly.
Mase highlighted that this had been demonstrated through programmes such as this one, financial support given to Cultural organizations and associations, as well as identification of opportunities for growth both locally and internationally.
Mase further indicated that the recently launched National Arts Council of Botswana has affirmed the government’s commitment to develop, promote and protect the creative and cultural sector, which has been mandated to develop, promote and protect the creative and cultural sector.
