This year’s Oscar nominations announcement has been delayed due to deadly wildfires flaming in the Los Angeles area, particularly. It has been delayed by two days.
Earlier it was scheduled to be announced for Friday, Jan 17, 2025, but the stars and films nomination for Academy Awards will now be revealed on Sunday, Jan 19, 2025. The voting will be conducted for nearly 10,000 Academy members.
This opened on Jan 08, 2025 and was extended by two days until Tuesday, Jan 14, 2025. Former Oscars was hosted by Billy Crystal among the celebrities who have lost homes in the week’s blaze as well as Paris Hilton, James Woods and Miles Teller.
A letter was sent to Academy members on Wednesday, considering this CEO of Academy Awards – Bill Kramer said that they want to offer the deepest condolences to those who have been impacted by the devastating fires across Southern California.
CEO Kramer said, “So many of the members and industry colleagues live and work in the Los Angeles area and we are thinking of you.”
The latest update blaze broke out in the Hollywood Hills, close to Hollywood Boulevard and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, on late Wednesday afternoon. The Californian fires has proved to be havoc for LA residents, as well as the film and TV industry areas since Tuesday.

The raging fire in California has led to call off many film shootings and TV shows. The productions have been shutdown due to lack of resources or the fire has reached to the studios. Various events and concerts have also been rescheduled to take place on new dates.
Productions scheduled to be shoot in Amazon’s MGM Studios have been cancelled. Considering the incident, the FilmLA has given permits to shoot in Los Angeles and issued an alert. It advised personnel resources ordinarily available to support film production may not be available during the local state of emergency, as the safety is priority.
