Cape Town: The Universal Access in Tourism is enhancing image of South Africa. The National Department of Tourism has recognised the Universal Access (UA) in tourism as an important initiative to make South Africa as one of the World’s top tourism destinations by the year 2020.
The officials said that they are proud to say that the City of Cape Town has remained committed to the ‘Responsible Tourism’ Charter and highlighted the universal access.
Considerably, what it means for all is that the attractions and establishments of the city are working hard to ensure that people with disabilities, senior citizens and families can move around independently and with dignity.
The Universal Accessibility in tourism encourages tourist’s attractions and establishments to ensure their facilities that allow people with disabilities senior citizens and people travelling with children and prams to move around independently and with equity and dignity.
Reportedly, the City of Cape Town in association with Cape Town Tourism has developed a website where visitors can access the information on universally accessible facilities and services that are offered in Cape Town.
However, the website also allows attraction managers to upload their information onto the website.
Cape Town is a modern, cosmopolitan city surrounded by the nature. The city is centred around the Table Mountain, which is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. The Mother City is known for its beautiful beaches and stunning biodiversity.
Along with this, the city is also famous for its award-winning food and wine and is also known for its sheer variety of experiences on offer.
At present, Cape Town is celebrating the Tourism Month. It is observed every year in the month of September, mainly to promote the domestic travel. It showcases the tourism offerings and highlight the sector’s contribution towards the economy of the country.
The theme for the 2024 Tourism Month is “Tourism and Peace – 30 years of connecting people, places and culture.”
Tourism Month coincides with World Tourism Day on September 27. This especially celebrates the unity that emerges from South Africa‘s people, cultures and connections. It showcases the nation’s diverse tourism offerings, including hidden gems and lesser-known attractions.
