City of Cape Town delivered title deeds to the residents in Bishop Lavis region. The team is building a stronger Cape Town through its innovative Title Deed-to-Door programme. Under this, twelve more Bishop Lavis families residing in the public housing rental units received their title deeds. The city will be delivering more title deeds across the metro to qualifying beneficiaries.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements – Councillor Carl Pophaim and the teams in the Human Settlements Directorate visited the twelve families in Bishop Lavis to deliver title deeds as part of the Deeds-to-Door programme through which almost 6000 were delivered out of the 10,000 target.
Pophaim said that this initiative marks another significant milestone for the twelve families in Bishop Lavis as they received their title deeds. The Human Settlements teams are on the ground on a daily basis in areas across the city to identify potential beneficiaries as well as to deliver title deeds to the qualifying families.
In year 2025, the City of Cape Town will be building on the success of the 2023-24 leg of the Deed-to-Door campaign and they are looking forward to celebrate with more families in upcoming weeks.
Following this great cause, Deon Carelse aged 56, who is a title deed recipient expressed happiness and said that, “We are happy to receive our title deed from the city through the Deed-to-Door programme. My family and I have been waiting for this special moment.”
Another title deed beneficiary Mark de Jongh aged 56 was glad and said, “As a family, we are grateful to receive the deed to our family home in Bishop Lavis.”
Considering this, Councillor Carl Pophaim said that he will be in many more communities this year and they are committed to land reform that works through the various Human Settlements programmes. The title deeds programme is a testament to the commitment to create more just and equitable communities where all residents have the opportunity to thrive.
