Cape Town: A Chinese Arts Troupe captivated the audience with their blazing performance at a gala on Saturday evening, 27 January 2024 in legislative capital of South Africa ‘Cape Town’.
As per the sources, the performance was a part of Chinese New Year celebrations which is also known as Spring Festival.
The talented performers come from Henan Province in central China. The diverse show at the Westin Cape Town hotel featured performances by martial arts, acrobatics, magic show, Yu Opera and other Chinese traditional songs and dances.
China’s Consul General in Cape Town – You Wenze, welcomed the guests at the event and said that the renowned Henan Arts Troupe, coming all the way from China would grace the beautiful city of Cape Town with an enchanting performance showcasing the richness of the Chinese culture.
He added in his statement, “Tonight’s spectacular performance will undoubtedly transport us to the heart of China and will allow us to experience the cultural treasures that have been passed down through generations.”
The consul general also expressed their hope that they desire to achieve more pragmatic cooperation results between the two sides in 2024.
Deputy Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces of Parliament of South Africa – Sylvia Lucas also spoke on the occasion and said that the relationship between China and South Africa has a long transcended bilateral scope and become a shining model for the relationships between China and the continent.
Lucas also said that in the past 25 years, the special and friendly relationship between China and South Africa has grown from strength to strength. She mentioned that it epitomizes the cooperation between the rising markets of the Global South.
The Deputy Chairperson also expressed her wish that the friendship between the people of two countries would continue for a long time, considering this new year.
Deputy Director General of Culture and Tourism Department of Henan Province – Li Yanqing said, “located to the south of China’s ‘Mother River’ – Yellow River, Henan holds a significant position as the birthplace of the Chinese nation and is known for its abundant historical sites, splendid cultural heritage and bountiful tourism resources.”
Considering the same Li extended an invitation to all South Africans to visit and explore Henan and experience the ancient charm of China. Notably, the Spring Festival falls on February 10, this year.
