OYDZ Zambia Coach said, “If the situation will be better, then they will start the Sports season on 3 February 2024.”

The cholera outbreak has so far affected over four thousand (4,000) people in Lusaka, with over one hundred and seventy (170) deaths as of 5 January 2024.

OYDC Management at the Centre will continue to assess the cholera situation in the country to determine if the sporting season, which includes the “Teulings Youth Sports Challenge”, can commence as scheduled.

However, all our clients and other facility users are welcome to book the sports facilities and the lodge. They are advised to follow all health prevention protocols as guided by the Ministry of Health.

The OYDC Zambia values the health of every facility user and Zambians at large. OYDC Zambia Management team said, “Together, we can fight the cholera outbreak and help the Government end it.”

The Cholera situation in Lusaka has worsened. Relatives are waiting for their loved ones who are admitted at Heroes Stadium, which is the cholera centre. Those who are losing their loved ones are being communicated from outside. It’s a problematic situation. Desperate measures are needed.

The President of Lusaka, Hakainde Hichilema, also tweeted, “In view of the escalating Cholera situation, we are cutting short our holiday and returning to Lusaka to provide more direct and frontline leadership in the fight against the outbreak.”
