Cape Town: The roadshow by City App was set to empower Lwandle residents. Member of the Mayoral Committee for Corporate Services – Alderman Theresa Uys from the City of Cape Town visited the Lwandle Community Hall in Strand as a part of a collaborative effort between the city departments to the trial of a City App community outreach programme.
During this outreach, the residents from Lwandle were shown how to log into service requests on their mobile phones. The Customer Relations Mobile Office by the City of Cape Town was also present to answer the queries of the residents.
Alderman Theresa Uys presented her gratitude to the Strand Environmental Health Office of the City of Cape Town for extending the invitation and seeing the opportunity to raise awareness on how to use the City App around Strand’s informal settlements.
She walked the streets, met residents and listened to the concerns about their complaints, regarding not being reported on time. They then gathered at the community hall and did a step-by-step presentation on how to use the City App.

Reportedly, the City’s Mobile App is available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Moreover, the customers can view the load-shedding status and timetables of their area. The app helps them in finding a local councillor, use the app to log service requests, comment on public issues that affect them and even log in to e-Services to access and pay their municipal bills.
Alderman Theresa Uys concluded her statement by encouraging the residents of Cape Town and said, “We would like to encourage the residents to use their smartphones to take ownership and care when it comes to all the basic services that were rendered in their respective communities.”
Talking about the City App, Deputy Mayor Eddie Andrews of the town stated that the application improved services to the customers and also pushed the digital transformation of the city goals by providing lessons that are being used wider in the city for the creation of future digital applications, including the new mobile app.
