Cape Town: The Urban Mobility Directorate of the City of Cape Town is proposing five new MyCiTi stops in the Rivergate area of Parklands in order to re-align the 214a and 214e routes in Table View. The proposed changes are designed to provide a more direct service with reduced travel times for passengers.
Reportedly, the City of Cape Town is calling on residents to please submit written comments or objections regarding the proposal from Feb 26, 2025 to Mar 28, 2025. The proposed changes involve Routes 214a and 214e which is being re-aligned to operate in both directions along with Dartford Drive and Walworth Road in Rivergate, Parklands.
As a result, commuters should note that both routes will no longer serve the Morningfield and Dartford stops on Parklands Main Road. Passengers who make use of the Morningfield and Dartford stops will now have more options, including other 214 route variations and the D05 route.
The proposed new route requires five new stops along the way that includes three new partner stops for the existing Walworth, Southwark and Lewisham stops on Dartford Drive and Walworth Road.
Furthermore, a set of two new stops on Station Road to cater for passengers, is currently utilising the Morningfield stop. Passengers, that are also using Dartford can still access the Parklands Main North stop, which is a short walk away.
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Urban Mobility – Councillor Rob Quintas said that they will first introduce temporary stops in order to test demand and confirm the suitability of the identified location, in line with the commitment to finding the most convenient routes and travel solutions for the passengers, as always.
Quintas further stated that for that reason, it is so important that the residents should submit written comments or objections regarding the proposal before March 28, 2025.
The Public Participation Unit of the City of Cape Town will assist those who cannot read or write and those who live with disabilities or who are from disadvantaged groups and are unable to submit written comments.
