Clap at Tap Regional Competitions conclude in Selebi Phikwe

Phikwe held the Clap and Tap regional competitions as a part of the National Arts Festival over the weekend

Botswana: Selebi Phikwe held the Clap and Tap regional competitions as a part of the National Arts Festival. The competition was hosted during the weekend and attended by many art and music lovers of Botswana.

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture also shared some images from the Selebi Phikwe Regional Competitions. Through the ministry, the people who were unable to attend got some glimpses into the vibrant and colorful event.

The Selebi Phikwe edition of the event was contested by twelve groups from many districts.

The performances of the contestants received much praise from the audience. The judges said that every group had something different to offer.

This festival highlighted the vibrant and diverse musical traditions of Botswana. At the same time, it served as an essential platform for nurturing underrepresented talents who are not given as much importance.

The Selibe Phikwe Clap and Tap competitions marked the end of the regional rounds. With the conclusion of the regional competitions, the finalists from all the districts are getting ready for the next step.

They will be competing in the final stage of the competition at the upcoming National Arts Festival which is scheduled to be held in Mahalapye.

The National Arts Festival is organized annually with the aim of highlighting the culture, art and talents of the people of Botswana. The Clap and Tap results for Selebi Phikwe are as follows.

  1. Ebenezer – 88%
  2. Bagala ba tumelo- 86%
  3. FGAC V6 Choir – 85%

During the weekend, the Ngamiland and Letlhakeng also hosted the Clap and Tap competitions for the creatives in their districts. The Letlhakeng event was hosted under the theme, “The creative economy; Botswana’s economic future redefined’

The theme aptly reflects that the Ministry is working hard to develop and promote the healthcare sector of the nation. The winners of the clap and tap competitions across the various districts will give them the recognition they deserve.

Afterwards, they may also succeed in making a flourishing career out of their talents
