Zambia: The police force has discovered the decomposed remains of a man in the Kalomo District. The victim is estimated to be aged between 40 and 45.
The remains of the victim were retrieved from the Green Acres Area opposite Choppies in the Central Business District of Kalomo. The incident was reported to the district police post on Wednesday, which was allegedly five to six days after the death of the incident.
Confirming the incident, Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka shared an official police statement. The commissioner of Police noted that the victim might have been there for close to 6 days before the incident was reported.
The commissioner of police talked about the incident in detail with the media.
Commissioner of Police Daka revealed that on February 28, 2024, they received a call from Kalomo Town Council Senior Health Inspector Elvis Siyanga. In his call, the health inspector revealed that they had discovered the decomposing remains of the person in question.
After the call, the police force dispatched some officers to the site. The Police Commissioner further revealed that the Police Officers who visited the scene found the victim with no shirt on. The deceased wore blue jean trousers, with other personal clothing in a plastic bag.
Daka states that despite the body being in a decomposed state, the face looks to have been beaten. He says further inspection on the scene suggested that the deceased might have been taken there using a motor vehicle.
The officials made this deduction owing to the tyre marks on the grass around.
Council Health Inspectors have since buried the victim, and the grave is marked awaiting further investigations. The country’s people have extended their sincere condolences to the family of the unknown deceased.
The people called the incident the most saddening and hoped that the deceased would get justice due to him.
